Position Summary
The Shop Technician is responsible for testing, filling, and hydrotesting portable fire extinguishers and suppression cylinders. This role ensures all extinguishers meet NFPA and code requirements while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient shop environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced service environment.

Key Responsibilities
Test portable fire extinguishers to ensure compliance with NFPA and state code requirements
Fill fire extinguishers and various fire suppression cylinders
Perform hydrostatic testing on cylinders and tanks
Maintain safe working practices while servicing cylinders and operating shop equipment
Assist with counter sales and customer walk-ins as needed
Manage inventory, including receiving, stocking, and shipping materials
Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and organization of the warehouse
Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
1–3 years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and training
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Basic math and counting skills
Ability to multitask and work independently
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to follow shop safety procedures
Basic knowledge of fire protection systems (alarms, sprinklers, suppression) preferred
